Comments Off on The Zaakir Amidst the Ghaafileen
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اذْكُرُوا اللَّـهَ ذِكْرًا كَثِيرًا
O you who believe! Remember Allah in abundance ~ Al-Ahzaab 33:41
….
The Zaakir is one who’s heart is alive with abundant Zikr of Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala … By remaining in the perpetual remembrance of Allah, one gains the proximity and Ma’rifat of Allah. He is always conscious of Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala …
And, the Ghafileen are those who are neglectful of the Zikr of Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala. They have become totally heedless and oblivious of Allah. Their heart becomes dead without the remembrance of Allah, and, is likened to a helpless dead corpse…

The one who remembers Allah among those who forget Him is like

Comments Off on Zikrullah ~ A Cure for the Ailments of our Heart
…
Allah ‘Consciousness’
The more we make the Zikr of Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala the closer we will become to Him. His love will come into our hearts….. We will then become obedient slaves unto Allah. We will want to obey Allah Taala always. We will realise that He is watching every single action of ours.
Our Ibaadat has become a ritual. We are bereft of “Allah consciousness” … May Allah Ta’ala grant us that “consciousness” and the Sifat of Ihsaan (as though we are seeing Allah Ta’ala in our Ibaadat, or at least He is watching us), be it our Salaah, Zikr, Tilaawat, Dua, or our social and monetary dealings, infact in every single action of ours.
…
A Cure for the Ailments of the HeartThe words, songs and poetry of the pop singers and musicians of this world, only brings BLEMISH to a Mu’mins heart … But the words of the Aarifeen, the Aashiqeen, who relate to us the words of Allah and Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam, don’t BLEMISH the heart … they infact POLISH the heart. They bring NOOR into a persons heart …
They bring us closer to Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala and make us realise that everything is in His control. HE alone deserves all Praise … HE is the Creator … HE is the Nourisher … The sun, the moon, the stars, the trees, the animals, the insects, Jinn, Insaan … everything is in His control. Allah is All-Knowing, Allah is All-Seeing, Allah is All-Hearing …
The name of Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala has such sweetness in it, that it is a cure for the illnesses and ailments of our heart. It is a remedy for the maladies of our heart. “Naam Tera Mere Dil Ki Hai Dawa” … Oh Allah! Your beautiful name is a medicine (Dawa), a cure for my heart!
…
May Allah Ta’ala help us to make HIS Zikr correctly and ponder over HIS greatness …

Comments Off on Al Baaqiyaatus Sawlehaat ~ Everlasting Deeds of Virtue
Extracted from a Tafseer Lesson ~ An explanation of Ayat 18:46 ~ Surah Al Kahf
…
Wealth and children are the embellishment of the worldly life and the everlasting virtues are better with your Lord in respect of reward and better to hope for ~ Surah Al Kahf 18:46
…
The wealth and children that a person possesses, are but a ‘Zeenat’ (decoration/adornment) of this worldly life. Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala has ‘decorated’ this Dunya by giving man a wealth of material treasures and also blessings of beautiful children. Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala says : These are embellishments of this world and reminds us that all that we possess, ultimately turns towards Fana (annihilation), towards Zawaal (termination). We should not become deceived by the Zeenat (glitter and glamour) of this world. Everything comes to an end.
But, what remains is “Al Baaqiyaatus Sawlehaat“. These are the good righteous, remaining deeds (A’maal Sawlehaat) whose blessings will be perpetual. The effects of these deeds will continue in the Hereafter. That is Khayrun inda Rabbik (better by Allah), and Sawaaban (full of reward). Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala says : In respect of reward and having hopes and aspirations, we should have Al Baaqiyaatus Sawlehaat in our lives. These deeds will remain forever and all other deeds will come to an end when we die.
It is mentioned in a Hadith : Rasulullah Sallallaahu alayhi Wasallam said: “The dead person is followed (to his grave) by three: His family, his wealth and his actions. Two of them return and only one remains. His family and wealth return, but his actions remain.” ~ Related by Al-Bukhari and Muslim. The only thing man can take in his Qabr (Grave) with him, are his ‘deeds’. If it was good it will benefit him. If it was evil it will cause him harm in his grave.
So, if we want to be rewarded by Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, then we have to bring good deeds into our lives. Whatever good actions a person does : Salaat, Zakaat, Hajj, Umrah, I’tikaaf, Roza, Akhlaaq, Zikr, Tilawat of the Quraan, Duas, Charity, Kindness, Generosity, Affection, Hospitality are all Al Baaqiyaatus Sawlehaat.
….
Reciting Tasbeeh (SubhanAllah), Tahmeed (Alhumdulilah), Takbeer (Allahu Akbar), Tahleel (La illaha illAllah) are also known as Al Baaqiyaatus Sawlehaat (good remaining deeds). When we recite them, we are Glorifying and Praising Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala. We are turning towards His Qudrat. We are not looking towards our own strength or power. We are weak. The source of all strength is Allah.

Allah Taala has created us so that we make His ibaadat and we remember Him.
The true believing men and the believing woman make the Zikr of Allah Subhaanahu wa Ta’ala in abundance.
Although it is such a simple ibaadat, how much of it do we
engage in daily?
May Allah grant us the Taufeeq of bringing the Zikr of Allah alive in our homes and lives. Our tongues must become moist in the Zikr of Allah Subhaanahu wa Ta’ala …
…
When we make the Zikr of Allah, we should ponder over the Greatness of Allah, the Kindness of Allah, that Allah is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful …
Allah loves us!
Allah has created us…
He is our Khaaliq … We are his Makhlooq …
Allah is Raaziq … We are Murzooq …
We must bring in our hearts the Greatness of Allah …
The Azmat of Allah … The Kibriyaa of Allah …
How powerful this Kalimah is ~ There is no Deity worthy of worship but Allah!
~
When we say ‘La ilaha’ we negate everything else besides Allah …
There is none worthy of worship besides Allah. Remove everything else from our hearts.
The malice we have … The anger we have … The jealousy we have …
The love for haraam we have in our hearts that has caused our hearts to become blackened and corroded!
When we say : “illAllah” then, fill in our hearts Allah Subhaanahu wa Ta’ala and imagine that Noor is entering our hearts right from the Arsh of Allah, and all our sins are being washed away!
May Allah Ta’ala make us true Zaakireen and Shaakireen

1. Compare the immense kindness and favours of Allah Ta’ala to our ingratitude and disobedience of Him.
2. Exert ourselves and strive to do those righteous deeds that Allah Ta’ala desires of us and leads us to Him, (Salaah, Zikr, Recitation of Qur’aan, etc).
3. Make specific time for engaging in the Zikr of Allah Ta’ala daily.

…
In this world, we possess appliances, machines, cars, buildings … These material possessions that we own, require maintenance and a service regularly to function optimally. If we do not repair those deficiencies that are found in them, they will become dilapidated and lose value.
Likewise, the spiritual hearts that we possess, require maintenance. For the efficient functioning of our spiritual heart, we are required to service and oil our hearts regularly …
How do we service this Soul of ours?
By making the Zikr of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala … When we recite the Zikr of Allah, then we are not depriving our spiritual heart of its nourishment and it’s regular service … If we do not maintain this spiritual heart, we will go into a spiritual ebb (a spiritual low) … Heedlessness enters our heart and we become negligent and lazy. Not being conscious of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala eventually leads to the death of the spiritual heart … We should seclude ourselves every single day for a few minutes and make Muraqabah (meditation) and the Zikr of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala …

There are ’12 Qualities’ displayed by these bondsmen which will indeed gain them unique honour in the Court of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala …
In a discussion, extracted from this series, Moulana emphasizes on the ‘Upbringing of Children’
…

O my Rabb! Grant unto us wives and offspring who will be the comfort of our eyes, and give us (the grace) to lead the righteous [25:74]
…
A child is one of the greatest asset of society (of any nation) … Therefore it is important that the upbringing (Tarbiyat) of the child must be done in an ‘excellent manner’ … If we want children to become leaders of society and the community, then we have to ensure that they are brought up in a manner which is pleasing to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala and Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. The Tarbiyat of the child does not begin ‘after’ it comes into the world. From the time it is in the womb of the mother the child is already being affected. Whatever affects the mother affects the child … A twig or a branch, (in it’s initial stage) is easy to twist and bend in any way we wish but as it becomes dry it is impossible to mould … Similarly, it is easier to influence the development of a child in its preliminary (infant) stages …
…
When a child is born, the first thing Shariah tells us to do is: “Give the Adhaan in the right ear and Iqaamah in the left ear”… You are already manifesting and teaching the child on the Greatness of Allah … He has come into this world through the command of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala and has to obey Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala … We teach the child Tauheed (the Oneness of Allah) … We are already directing the attention of the child towards Salaah! … Adhaan and Iqaamah are given and thereafter what takes place? Salaah … After Adhaan and Iqaamah there is not much time before Salaah takes place … Similarly is our life in this world … We have come into this world … Adhaan and Iqaamah has been given and we are just waiting for our Janaazah Salaah to take place!
…
Parents have extremely great rights over their children … Jannah lies under the feet of the mother .The father also has great virtues and rights. The children are expected to give them their due but when the Tarbiyat is not made correctly and parents themselves are not ‘Role Models’ , then we are faced with challenges …Parents do not have Taqwa (piety), their lives are not simple and they do many things that are displeasing to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala … How is the child then going to inculcate good and noble habits and restrain himself from evil practices?
…
“A child’s mind is like a slate and whatever you are going to draw there is going to be etched into the child’s mind”
…
There is a manner of reprimanding the child that is disobedient and many a times we ‘Spare the Rod and Spoil the Child‘ . If they do not listen after that, we beat them up or we curse them! Is the coolness of the eyes waking up in the middle of the night to see your child performing Tahajjud Salaah or is the coolness of the eyes seeing your child battling in the Rehab or having an illicit affair? Showing and teaching children with love is very important! Most of us ‘abuse’, ‘threaten’ or ‘instill fear in the child’s heart’ and after the child has grown up, then we are trying to change the child’s condition … Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam showed so much of Muhabbat (love) for children. How often have we heard that he was in Sajda or Ruku, when his grandchildren jumped on his back! Whenever he would return from Safar he would give the little children a ride on his camel and then enter Medina Munawwarah. Whenever there was a first fruit of the season, Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam would give it to the children and make them happy … He would never deceive or lie to a child … Why do we lie and make false promises to a child? If we promise a child something we are bound to fulfill that promise otherwise the child will lose confidence in the parent …
Some Rights of a Child
• The father should choose a (pious wife) good mother for the child
• The parents should choose a good name for the child
• The child should be taught Deeni Taalim (Qur’aan,Hadith etc)
…
Like a sponge that is immersed in water … A mind of a child takes in everything it sees and views … If the child’s mind is kept ‘pure’ with Salaah, Zikr, Tilawat, Ibadat and Du’aa then his Tarbiyat is being made correctly!

بِسْــــــــــــــــــمِ اَللّهُِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيم
We need to make the Zikr of Allah Subhanahu-Wa-Ta’ala constantly and develop in our hearts this Ta’aluq (connection) with Allah Subhanahu-Wa-Ta’ala. The connection with Allah Subhanahu-Wa-Ta’ala becomes weak very easily when we don’t remember Allah Subhanahu-Wa-Ta’ala …
Allah says “Faz-kuruni az-kurkum” “You remember Me ~ I am remembering you ~ I will always remember you”
But, when we don’t make Zikr of Allah Subhanahu-Wa-Ta’ala, then we are cutting of this connection we have with Allah Subhanahu-Wa-Ta’ala, and that is going to be detrimental for ourselves …
Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) in a hadith has mentioned a du’aa ~
“O Allah! … Open the locks of our hearts through Your Remembrance”
The hearts that we have, the spiritual hearts, have locks and to open these locks, one needs to make the Zikr of Allah Allah Subhanahu-Wa-Ta’ala. The moment a person makes the Zikr of Allah whether he says, SubhaanAllah سبحان الله … Alhumdulilah الحمد لله … La ilaha illallah لا إله إلا الله … Allah-hu-Akbar الله أكبر … then these locks now become open …
For any key that we have, the key has teeth and when this key is put into any lock, the teeth of this key has to match that of the lock, then and only then, the lock of the door will open. The Zikr that we are making is the ‘Key to open the locks of our Heart‘. The teeth of this key (of this Zikr) are Khushoo (concentration) and Khuzoo (humility). To make Zikr of Allah Subhanahu-Wa-Ta’ala with dedication, concentration, devotion, your mind has to be focused on Allah Subhanahu-Wa-Ta’ala …
How often we make Istighfar, Astaghfirullah … Astaghfirullah … Astaghfirullah أأستغفر الله with no feeling, no dedication, no devotion whatsoever. We are not even pondering over what we are saying! We are making Istighfar and we are seeking the pardon of Allah Subhanahu-Wa-Ta’ala, the forgiveness of Allah Subhanahu-Wa-Ta’ala … Rabia Basri RA used to say, ‘The manner in which we make Istighfar, we require to make lots of Istighfar for that type of Istighfar that we make’. In other words, we are not making Istighfar properly. When we make Istighfar we are asking Allah to conceal our sins. We are asking Allah to forgive us …
And then, a person should ponder over the sins he is committing or has committed. And as he is making this Istighfar, he must ponder and reflect over the Ghunnah (sins) he has made and he should feel this Nadaamat (remorse) in his heart. He should feel this regret and remorse in his heart. He should feel ashamed of having committed that sin. And now he is making a promise to Allah Subhanahu-Wa-Ta’ala that he is not going to resort to that sin and he is seeking Allah, or Allah’s forgiveness. He wants to wash away from his heart that sin …
When we say ‘SubhaanAllah’ we must really feel and believe and understand and ponder and reflect over the meanings of SubhaanAllah!
Allah Subhanahu-Wa-Ta’ala is Paak. Allah has no blemish whatsoever! No defects whatsoever! Allah is absolutely Pure! Allah has no shortcomings! Allah has no deficiencies! Allah is Perfect!
