Hadith

Hazrat Aws ibn Aws Radiyallahu Anhu narrated that

Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said:

Among the most excellent of your days is Friday; on it Adam (AS) was created, on it (Friday) he (AS) passed away, on it the last trumpet will be blown, and on it will be the deafening sound. So invoke more Salutations on me on a Friday, for your salutations will be submitted to me.

The people asked: Apostle of Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam), how can it be that our blessings will be submitted to you while your body is decayed? He (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) replied: Allah, the Exalted, has prohibited the earth from consuming the bodies of Prophets.

Lessons from Hadith Shareef ~ Take Advantage of Five before Five

Hadith

: Hazrat Amr bin Maimun RA narrated : Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam advised a man

“Appreciate five things before (you are overcome) by five things

• youth before old age,

• health before sickness,

• wealth before poverty

• free time before becoming preoccupied

and

• life before death.

Every person has these opportunities and times in which he should take maximum benefit from. When a person is young, has health, has wealth, has free time, etc,  then, he has the ability to do good deeds (perform Salaah, discharge Zakaat, go for Hajj, keep Fasts, and other Deeni activities) …

… but the moment the person becomes old, loses his health, has decreased wealth, no free time, and finally death overtakes him…… he loses the ability to do good deeds.

Therefore Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said that whilst you have these five advantages, then take maximum benefit of these bounties and please Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala…

Do not procrastinate!

Hadith

Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said: “Whoever amongst you rises in the morning, secured (having safety, security, peace) in his self / family / path; healthy in his body (from deadly diseases); having sufficient food for the day; then it is as if the world has been gathered for him.” ~ Tirmidhi

DOWNLOAD HADITH AND EXPLANATION HERE ~ 9 MINS

Just by having these 3 bounties, it is as though a person is the owner of the whole world! The entire world has been gathered for him.

Ulema say, that only when we become ‘deprived’ of these bounties that we truly appreciate them.  We do not realise the value of these bounties because we are always looking at people “above” us (as far as Dunya is concerned). Hence, these are treated insignificantly…

Hazrat Abu Hurairah RA narrated that Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said:

انْظُرُوا إِلَى مَنْ هُوَ أَسْفَلَ مِنْكُمْ وَلاَ تَنْظُرُوا إِلَى مَنْ هُوَ فَوْقَكُمْ فَإِنَّهُ أَجْدَرُ أَنْ لاَ تَزْدَرُوا نِعْمَةَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُم

“Look to one who is lower than you(in Dunya), and do not look to one who is above you. For indeed that is more worthy (so that you will) not belittle Allah’s favours upon you.”  ~ Tirmidhi

**However, as far as Deen is concerned, a person should not look at one who is lower than him, but rather at that person who is above him (making so much of ibaadah, tilawat, salaah), and he should aspire to be like him …

Aafiyat

Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam would repeatedly exhort the Sahaba RA to make dua for Aafiyat … What is the meaning of Aafiyat? It simply means possessing safety and peace from all types of calamities, trials, tribulations …. We have been blessed with the Nimats of safety, good health and sustenance and should make sincere Shukr to Allah Ta’ala and appreciate all these bounties …

__Dua for Aafiyat__

Allaahumma ‘innee ‘as’alukal-‘afwa wal’aafiyata fid-dunyaa wal’aakhira

O Allah, I seek Your forgiveness and Your protection in this world and the next

Hadith

Hazrat Abu Juraiy Jabir bin Sulaim RA reported: I noticed a man whose opinion was followed by every body, and no one acted contrary to what he said. I asked who he was, and I was informed that he was Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam…

I said to him twice: “Alaikas-salam ya Rasul-Allah”. He said, “Do not say: `Alaikas-salam.’ This is the salutation to the dead (in Jahiliyyah times). Say, instead: `As-salamu ‘alaikum’

I asked: “Are you the Messenger of Allah?” He replied, “(Yes) I am the Messenger of that Allah, Who will remove your affliction when you are in trouble and call to Him, Who will cause food to grow for you when you are famine-stricken and call to Him, and Who will restore to you your lost riding beast in the desert when you call upon Him.”

I said to him: “Give me instructions (to act upon).’

He (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said,

1 • “Do not abuse anyone.” (Since then I have never abused anyone, neither a freeman, nor a slave, nor a camel, nor a sheep).

He (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) continued,

2 •  “Do not hold in contempt even an insignificant act of goodness.

3 • Talk to your brother with a cheerful countenance, as this is an act of goodness.

4 • Hold up your lower garment half way to the leg, or at least above the ankles; for trailing it, is arrogance, and Allah dislikes pride.

5 • If a man imputes to you of bad things he knows you possess, do not impute to him bad things that you know he has, for he will assume the evil consequences of his abuse.”

Hadith

Hazrat Abu Huraira RA narrates:

Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said, “Allah will give shade, to seven, on the Day when there will be no shade but His”. (These seven persons are) :

1. A just ruler.

2. A youth who has been brought up in the worship of Allah.

3. A man whose heart is attached to the Masaajid.

4. Two persons who love each other only for Allah’s sake and they meet and part in Allah’s love.

5. A man who refuses the invitation of a charming woman of noble birth (for illicit intercourse with her) and says: I fear Allah!

6. A man who gives charity so secretly that his left hand even, does not know what his right hand has given.

7. And a person who remembers Allah in seclusion and his eyes are then flooded with tears.”

When making Dua, we should Ask Allah Ta’ala to grant us the intercession of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam on the day of Qiyamah and bless us with the water of Haudh-e-Kauthar from his Mubaruk hands … If we bring the True Sunnats into our lives, together with making a proper Whudu and performing Salaah, we will acquire a brightness on our faces on the day of Qiyamah and Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam will very easily recognise us and give us the water of Haudh-e-Kauthar from his Mubaruk hands to drink….

Lessons from Hadith Shareef ~ Being ‘Sadooqul Lisaan’ (Truthful of Tongue) and ‘Makhmumul Qalb’ (Pure of Heart)

Excerpts from ~ Ramadaan 1435 Programmesbismillahh

Hadith

Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr RA says that Rasulullah ﷺ was asked: “Who among men is the best?” He (ﷺ) replied: “Everyone who is pure of heart (**Makhmumul Qalb) and truthful of tongue (*Sadooqul Lisaan).” They enquired: “Truthful of Tongue“—we know what this is. But what is “Makhmumul Qalb”? He (ﷺ) said : “It is (the heart) that is pure and pious upon which there is no sin, transgression, deceit, malice or envy in it.”

~ Sunan Ibn Majah

We find in the Ahadeeth of Rasulullah  ﷺ, there is great emphasis on speaking the truth and having a Qalbe-Saleem (pure clean heart).

These two Arabic words in this Hadith : Sadooqul Lisaan and Makhmumul Qalb, highlight the importance of these characteristics.

*Sadooqul Lisaan : A person who is truthful and who’s tongue always utters that which is correct (not false).

When a person speaks lies, then those angels that are around him, move far away from him, because of the odour and the stench that emanates from the persons mouth.

**Makhmumul Qalb : Literally, the word means, ‘the heart must be swept’ (cleansed). That heart which is pure, clean, pious, righteous. It has no sin on it. There are no black spots on this heart. There are no traces of malice in it.

• Rasulullah ﷺ said, “Whosoever gives me a guarantee that he will safeguard what is between his jaws (the tongue) and what is between his legs (the private parts), I shall guarantee him Jannah.” (Bukhari)

Concerning malice and jealousy, our good A’amaal are destroyed because of these traits.

• Rasulullah ﷺ said, “Beware of jealousy, for indeed jealousy consumes one’s good deeds like fire consumes wood.” (Sunan Abi Dawud)

• Hazrat Anas bin Malik reported: Rasulullah ﷺ said to me, “O boy, if you are able every morning and evening to remove any rancor from your heart towards anyone, then do so.” Then Rasulullah  ﷺ  said to me, “O boy, that is my tradition (sunnah) and whoever revives my tradition has loved me, and whoever loves me will be with me in Paradise.”(Tirmidhi)

Let us talk less…  Control our tongues …  Speak the truth … Be honest … and reach our Allah with a Qalbe-Saleem (pure clean heart)

Hadith

Hazrat Abu Kabshah al-Anmari RA narrates that Rasulullah

said, “There are three things which I swear to be true, and I shall tell you a Hadith, so keep it in mind

The Three things which I swear to be true are ;

(1) Giving Sadaqah (charity) does not reduce one’s wealth ;

(2) If anyone is oppressed and he faces it with patience, Allah Ta’ala will increase his honour ;

(3) If anyone begins to beg (from people), Allah Ta’ala opens up the doors of poverty on him…

And the Hadith that I am going to tell you to keep in mind, is that the World has only Four types of people:

1) A man whom Allah provides with wealth and knowledge, in which he fears his Lord and joins ties of relationship, acting in it as is due to Him for the sake of Allah,  is in the most excellent position.

2) A man whom Allah provides with knowledge but not with wealth, who says with a sincere intention that if, he had wealth he would act as so and so does, their reward will be equal.

3) A man whom Allah provides with wealth but not with knowledge, in which he acts in a random manner ignorantly, not fearing his Lord regarding it, or using it to join ties of relationship, or dealing with it in a right way, this man is in the worst condition.

4) A man whom Allah provides with neither wealth nor knowledge, who says that if he had wealth he would deal with it as so and so does and has the above mentioned evil intention, the sin they have to bear being equal.”

Hazrat Abu Sa’eed Khudri RA reported that Hazrat Mu’awiya RA went to a gathering in the mosque and said:

What makes you sit here? They said: We are sitting here in order to remember Allah. He said: I adjure you by Allah (to tell me whether you are sitting here for this very purpose)? They said: By Allah, we are sitting here for this very purpose.

Thereupon, he said: I have not demanded you to take an oath, because of any allegation against you. And no one in my rank, being so close to Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) has narrated so few Ahadith as I have. The fact is that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) went out to the circle of his Companions and said: What makes you sit here? They said: We are sitting here in order to remember Allah and to praise Him for He guided us to the path of Islam and He conferred favours upon us.

Thereupon he adjured by Allah and asked if that only was the purpose of their sitting there. They said: By Allah, we are not sitting here but for this very purpose, whereupon he (the Messenger ﷺ) said: I am not asking you to take an oath because of any allegation against you but for the fact that Jibra’eel AS came to me and he informed me that Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, was boasting to the Angels about your magnificence.

Hazrat Abu Hurairah RA said : that Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: “Who among you will learn from me these five advices and practise upon these advices, or teach it to somebody who will practice upon them? ”

Hazrat Abu Hurairah RA replied, “I will do so, Oh Rasulullah!”

Hazrat Abu Hurairah RA said, “So he (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) held my hand and mentioned five advices :

1. Save yourself from all those things that Allah has made Haraam upon you, then you will be the greatest of worshippers.

2. Be content with whatever Allah has decreed for you, and you will be the richest of people.

3. Be kind to your neighbour, then you will be a true believer.

4. Love for makind what you love for yourself and you will be a (true) Muslim.

Hadith

Narrated by Hazrat Abu Hurairah RA

Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam said, “When it is a Friday, the angels stand at the gate of the mosque and keep on writing the names of the persons coming to the mosque in succession according to their arrivals. The example of the one who enters the mosque in the earliest hour is that of one offering a camel (in sacrifice). The one coming next is like one offering a cow and then a ram (with horns) and then a chicken and then an egg respectively. When the Imam comes out (for Jumuah prayer) they (i.e. angels) they fold up their scrolls and get ready to listen to the Khutbah.” ~ Sahih al-Bukhari

Hadith

Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said:
“Beware of oppression (Zulm), for oppression will be darkness (Zulumaat) on the Day of Resurrection.” ~ Muslim

Oppressing people is not something that we should take lightly! If we make an introspection within ourselves and search deep down our own lives, then we will realize that we are also guilty of oppression in many ways …

Perhaps we may not behave as tyranicle as the tyrants of the past, like Firaun and others were … but, we too hurt and torture people, mentally and emotionally,  through our harsh words (abusive language) and by our despicable and brutal actions …

If we truly love Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala and realise His greatness and acknowledge the Day of Reckoning, (when we have to stand before Allah), then we will not follow our passions and desires by behaving arrogantly and harshly towards others.

Hadeeth

Hazrat ‘Irbaad bin Saariyah RadhiyAllahu Anhu narrates: “Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam preached to us one day after Fajr with utmost eloquence which caused the eyes to tear and the hearts to tremble. A man then said: “Definitely this is the advice of a person bidding farewell, hence what do you command us with O Messenger of Allah? He (Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “I command you with Taqwa (the fear of Allah) and the listening and obedience even (if your leader be) an Abyssinian slave. Verily who lives from amongst you will observe such dissension. Save yourself from newly invented matters because it is definitely misguidance. Hadeeth

Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: “If the people knew what (reward) there is in the call (Adhan) and praying in the first row, and there was no other way to settle the matter than drawing lots, then they would draw lots for it”. (Bukhari and Muslim)

Hazrat Ibn ‘Umar RA narrates that Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said : The Muazzin will receive forgiveness to the extent the voice of his Adhan reaches; every living and non-living thing that hears his voice, supplicates for his forgiveness. In another narration it is stated: Every living and nonliving thing replies to his Adhan. (Musnad Ahmad, Tabarani, Bazzar, Majma’uz-Zawaid)

These, and many other Ahaadeeth point out the “Great Virtues” of calling out the Azaan and in standing in the first Saf (row) for Salaah in Jamaat.

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (Radiyallaahu Anhu) narrates that Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said,

And He said O you who believe! Eat of the good things that We have provided you with, and give thanks to Allah if Him it is that you serve.’

The narrator of the hadith says: Then he (i.e. Rasulullah Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) made mention of a man who undertakes long journeys and has dishevelled hair and a dusty appearance (due to the long tedious journey) and who raises his hands towards the sky saying “O my Rabb. Hazrat Abu Yahya Suhaib bin Sinan Radiyallahu-Anhu reported that: Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “How wonderful is the case of a believer; there is good for him in everything and this applies only to a believer. If prosperity comes to him, he expresses gratitude to Allah and that is good for him; and if adversity befalls him, he endures it patiently and that is better for him”. [Muslim].

There are Three Types of Sabr :

1. Sabr when facing difficulties – Sabr Alal Ma’asib

2. Sabr in refraining from sins ~ Sabr Anil Ma’asee

3. Sabr in remaining on good deeds – Sabr Alat Ta’aat

Hadeeth pertaining to Sabr :

1. Hazrat Anas Radiyallahu-Anhu reported: Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam passed by a woman who was crying over a grave and said, “Fear Allah and be patient.”  She said, “Away from me! My calamity has not befallen you and you are not aware of it.” The woman was later told that it was Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam (who had advised her). She came to his door where she found no doorkeeper. She said, “(I am sorry) I did not know it was you.” Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “Patience is (becoming) only at the first (stroke) of grief”. [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

2. Hazrat Abu Hurairah Radiyallahu-Anhu reported: Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “Allah, the Exalted, says: ‘I have no reward other than Jannah for a believing slave of Mine who remains patient for My sake when I take away his beloved one from among the inhabitants of the world”. Five Rights of a Muslim over another Muslim :

Hazrat Abu Hurairah  (RadhiAllahu anhu) reported: The Messenger of Allah (Sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said: “Every Muslim has five rights over another Muslim (i.e., he has to perform five duties for another Muslim):

1. To return the Salaam
2. To visit the sick
3. To attend the funeral
4. To accept an invitation
5. To respond to the sneezer [i.e., to say: `Yarhamuk-Allah (may Allah bestow His Mercy on you),’ when the sneezer praises Allah].”
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Hadeeth pertaining to Visiting the Sick :

1. Hazrat Ali bin Abi Talib Radiyallahu-Anhu reported: I heard Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam saying, “When a Muslim visits a sick Muslim at dawn, seventy thousand angels keep on praying for him till dusk. If he visits him in the evening, seventy thousand angels keep on praying for him till the morning; and he will have (his share of) reaped fruits in Jannah.”[At- Tirmidhi]

2. Hazrat Abu Musa Radiyallahu-Anhu reported: Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “Visit the sick, feed the hungry, and release the captive.” [Al-Bukhari]

3. Hazrat Thauban Radiyallahu-Anhu reported: Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “He who visits his sick brother, will remain engaged in picking the fruits from the garden of Jannah till he returns.” [Muslim]

4. Hazrat Abu Hurairah Radiyallahu-Anhu reported: Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “Verily, Allah, the Exalted, and Glorious will say on the Day of Resurrection: ‘O son of Adam, I was ill but you did not visit Me.’ He would say: ‘O my Rabb, how could I visit you when You are the Rabb of the worlds?’ Thereupon He would say: ‘Did you not know that such and such a slave of Mine was ill but you did not visit him? Did you not realize that if you had visited him you would have found Me with him? O son of Adam, I asked food from you but you did not feed Me.’ He would submit: ‘My Rabb, how could I feed You when You are the Rabb of the worlds?’ He would say: ‘Did you not know that such and such a slave of Mine asked you for food but you did not feed him? Did you not realize that if you had fed him, you would certainly have found (its reward) with Me? O son of Adam, I asked water from you but you did not give it to Me.’ He would say: ‘My Rabb, how could I give You give you water when You are the Rabb of the worlds?’ Thereupon He would say: ‘Such and such a slave of Mine asked you for water to drink but you did not give it to him. Did you not realize that if you had given him to drink you would have found (its reward) with Me?”‘ [Muslim].

Duas to be Recited when Visiting the Sick :

1. Hazrat Aishah Radiyallahu-Anha reported: When a person complained to Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam about an ailment or suffered from a sore or a wound, Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam would touch the ground with his forefinger and then raise it,
(Sufyan bin `Uyainah, the narrator, demonstrated this with his forefinger)
and would recite: `Bismil-lahi, turbatu ardina, bireeqati ba`dina, yushfa bihi saqimuni, bi ‘izni Rabbina’ (With the Name of Allah, the dust of our ground mixed with the saliva of some of us would cure our patient with the permission of our Rabb.’
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

2. Hazrat Aishah Radiyallahu-Anha reported: When Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam visited any ailing member of his family, he would place his right hand on the sick person and would supplicate: “Allahumma Rabban-naas, azhibil-ba’sa, washfi, Antash-Shaafi, la shifa’a illa shifa’uka, shifaan la yughadiru saqaman
[O Allah! the Rabb of mankind! Remove this disease and cure (him or her)! You are the Great Curer. There is no cure but through You, grant such a cure that leaves behind no disease].” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

3. Hazrat Abu ‘Abdillah bin Abul-‘as Radiyallahu-Anhu reported: I complained to Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam about a pain I had in my body. Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “Place your hand where you feel pain and say: ‘Bismillah (With the Name of Allah)’ three times; and then repeat seven times: ‘A’uzu bi’izzatillaahi wa qudratihi min sharri ma ajidu wa ‘uhaaziru … (I seek refuge with Allah and His Power from the evil that afflicts me and that which I apprehend).”‘ [Muslim]

4. Hazrat Ibn ‘Abbas Radiyallahu-Anhu reported: Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “He who visits a sick person who is not on the point of death and supplicates seven times: As’alullaahal-‘Azeem Rabbal-‘Arshil-‘Azeem, ayyashfiyaka
(I beseech Allah the Great, the Rabb of the Great Throne, to heal you),
then Allah will certainly heal him from that sickness.” [Abu Dawud and At- Tirmidhi]

“And your Lord says: ‘Call upon Me, I will answer you” ~ Surah Ghaafir 40:60

. . .

During Ibadat, like Salaat, a person fully submits before Allah through making ruku, sujood, supplicating, glorifying and praising Allah …

Similarly, in Dua, a person is engaged in begging from Allah Ta’ala … He raises his hands- his ‘begging bowl’ and submits to Allah Ta’ala, directing all his attention towards to Him alone, displaying his total dependance on Allah Ta’ala, for all his needs …

Nabi Sallallaahu ‘alaihi Wasallam said : الدُّعَاءُ مُخُّ الْعِبَادَةِ “Dua is the essence of Ibadah (worship).” [Tirmdhi]

Nabi Sallallaahu ‘Alaihi Wasallam used to supplicate with All~Encompassing and Comprehensive Duas :

“Allahumma Rabbana Aatina fid-dunya hasanatan wafil- Akhirati hasanatan waqina azaaban Naar.” ~ Oh Allah, our Lord, give us  the good of this world, and the good of the life hereafter, and save us from the punishment of the hell-fire.

“Allahumma inni as’alukal-huda, wat-tuqa, wal-`afafa, wal-ghina ~ O Allah! I beseech You for guidance, piety, chastity and contentment.’ ~ [Muslim]

“Allahummaghfirli Warhamni Wahdini Warzuqni Wa-Afini” ~ O Allah, forgive me, show mercy on me, guide me, provide for me, and grant me security.

Hadith Pertaining to Ayatul Kursi :

1. It is narrated from Hazrat Ubay ibn Ka’b Radiyallahu-Anhu that the Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam asked, “Abu Mundhir, do you know which verse of Allah’s book is the greatest?”… I replied, “Allah and His Messenger know best.” He repeated his question and I said, “Allahu La ilaha illa Huwal Hayyul Qayyum.” …. ….

3. Hazrat Abu Hurairah Radiyallahu anhu said, “Allah’s Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam appointed me to take charge of the Zakaat of Ramadhaan. At night someone came to me and began to take up handfuls of the food. I seized him and told him I was certainly going to take him to Allah’s Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.

However, when he said, “I am needy, I have children dependent on me, and I have a pressing need.” I let him go.

In the morning the Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam asked, “What happened to your prisoner last night, Abu Hurairah” I replied, “O’ Messenger of Allah, he complained of great need and of having children dependant on him, so I had pity on him and let him go.”

He said, “He lied to you and he will come back.” I realised that he would return because Allah’s Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam had told me so. Therefore, I lay waiting for him. When he came and began to take up handfuls of food, I seized him and told him I am certainly going to take you before Allah’s Messenger.

He said, “Let me go, for I am needy with children dependent on me, and I shall not return.” I had pity on him and let him go.

In the morning, Allah’s Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam asked me, “What happened to your prisoner, Abu Hurairah?”

I replied, “Messenger of Allah, he complained of great need and of having children dependent on him, so I had pity on him and let him go.”

Rasoolullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “He has certainly lied to you, and he will come back.”

So, I lay in wait for him, and when he came back and took up handfuls of food I seized him and said, “I am certainly going to take you before Allah’s Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, for this is the third time you are asserting you will not return, but you always do.”

He said, “If you let me go I will teach you some words by which Allah will reward you. When you go to your bed recite the “Verse of the Throne”, till you finish the verse, a guardian from Allah will then remain over you and no devil will come near you till the morning.”

Therefore, I let him go, and in the morning Allah’s Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam asked me, “What happened to your prisoner.”

I replied, “He asserted that he would teach me some words by which Allah will benefit me.”

He Sallallaahu alayhi Wasallam said, “He certainly told you the truth, though he is a great liar. Do you know whom you have been talking to for three nights?” When I replied that I did not, he said, “That was Shaytaan.”  ~ (Bukhari)

Excerpts from ~ Ramadaan 1434 Programmes

And whatever good you do – Allah knows it. ~ 2:197

Apart from the Faraa’idh acts of Ibadat (Salaah, Fasting, Hajj, Zakaat etc), there are numerous simple good deeds that one can perform on a daily basis to gain the closeness of Allah Subhaanahu wa Ta’ala. These effortless acts (with the intention of Sadaqah) seem small in our eyes, but are significant in Shariah and by fulfilling them, tremendous reward is attained…

Ahadeeth pertaining to Sadaqah :

1. Hazrat Abu Zar RA reported: Nabi Sallallahu alayhi Wasallam said, “When you get up in the morning, charity is due from every one of your joints. There is charity in every ascription of glory to Allah; there is charity in every declaration of His Greatness; there is charity in every utterance of praise of Him; there is charity in every declaration that He is the Only True God (worthy of worship); there is charity in enjoining good; there is charity in forbidding evil. Two Rak`ah of Duha (Forenoon prayer) suffices all this .” ~ Muslim

2. Hazrat ‘Adi bin Hatim RA reported: I heard Nabi Sallallahu alayhi Wasallam saying, “Protect yourself from (Hell) Fire, even by giving just half of a date (in charity)” ~ Al-Bukhari and Muslim

Lessons from Hadith Shareef ~ Mujaahadah ~ Making an Effort in the Cause of Allah

July 2, 2013

Comments Off on Lessons from Hadith Shareef ~ Mujaahadah ~ Making an Effort in the Cause of Allah

Excerpts from ~ Ramadaan 1434 Programmes
bismillahh

And those who strive in Our (cause),- We will certainly guide them to our Paths: For verily Allah is with those who do good ~ Surah Al Ankaboot 29:69

When a person makes an effort (Mujaahadah) towards reaching Allah Subhaananhu wa Ta’ala, then Allah opens many roads that lead a person to Him. Any action that one does which is in conformance to the Shariah, links and reaches one to Allah Subhaananhu wa Ta’ala.

Allah Taala has created Jinn and mankind for His Ibaadah. This Ibaadah is not just for one or two days or months. A person has to make the Ibaadat of Allah Ta’ala right until the time of death.

An atoms weight of good deed (no matter how small it may seem), the reward of it will be seen on the day of Qiyamah. Also, any evil deed (no matter how small it may be), the result of it will be seen on the day of Qiyamah.

Allah has created Jahannum and has surrounded and covered it in a veil (of evil desires). The moment a person does something evil then he tears open that veil and plunges into Jahannum … Similarly, Jannah is so beautiful, but has been covered in a veil of adversities (Makaarih). Hence, a person has to struggle in the cause of Allah (fight his nafs), endure it and indulge in good deeds … He then opens that veil and thereby enters Jannah …

Ahaadeeth pertaining to Mujaahadah :

1. Hazrat Aishah RA said: With the start of the last ten days of Ramadan, Nabi Sallallahu alayhi Wasallam would pray all the night, and would awaken his family for making ibaadah. He tied his lower garment (i.e: avoided sleeping with his wives) and devoted himself entirely to prayer and supplication. ~ [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

2. Hazrat Aishah RA said: Nabi Sallallahu alayhi Wasallam  would stand (in prayer) so long that the skin of his feet would crack. I asked him, “Why do you do this while your past and future sins have been forgiven?” He said, “Should I not be a grateful slave of Allah?” ~ [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

3. Hazrat Rabi`ah bin Ka`b Al-Aslami RA (an attendant of Nabi Sallallahu alayhi Wasallam and also one of the people of As-Suffah) said: I used to spend my night in the company of Nabi Sallallahu alayhi Wasallam and used to put up water for his ablutions. One day he said to me, “Ask something of me. ” I said: “I request for your companionship in Jannah”. He inquired, “Is there anything else ?” I said, “That is all.” He said, “Then help me in your request by increasing your prostrations (nafl salaat) ~ [Muslim]

 4. Hazrat Abu Mas`ud `Uqbah bin `Amr Al-Ansari RA said: When the Aayah enjoining Sadaqah (charity) was revealed, we used to carry loads on our backs to earn something that we could give away in charity. One person presented a considerable amount for charity and the hypocrites said: “He has done it to show off.” Another one gave away a few Saa` of dates and they said: “Allah does not stand in need of this person’s dates” then the verse was revealed … ~ [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

…

5. Hazrat Abu Hurairah RA reported: Nabi Sallallahu alayhi Wasallam said. “The (Hell) Fire is surrounded with all kinds of desires and passions, while Jannah is surrounded with adversities.” ~ [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
