Hazrat Aus bin Aus Radiyallahu Anhu narrated that Rasullulah Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam said : Verily, Friday is the best of your days (of the week) so increase your Salutations upon me on a Friday, as your Salutations are presented to me. ~ Sunan Abi Dawud

Reciting ‘SubhanAllah’ is more beloved to Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam than all that the sun has risen over [1*]

Reciting SubhaanAllah fills half the scales (Mizaan) on the day of Aakhirah [2*]

Whoever says just ’one’ SubhaanAllah, a date-palm tree is planted for him in Paradise [3*]

Reciting SubhaanAllah Wa Bihamdihi SubhaanAllahil Azeem are two expressions which are most Beloved to Allah, are light on the tongue, but heavy on the scales (of Qiyamah) [4*]

No person will bring any deed more virtuous on the day of Qiyamah than recitation of SubhanAllahi wa bihamdihi. [5*]

A person who recites SubhanAllahi wa bihamdihi 100 times a day, even if he has committed sins as much as the the foam of an ocean, still he will be forgiven [6*]

A person who recites SubhanAllahi wa bihamdihi 100 times a day, then, 1000 good deeds (hasanah) are written for him and 1000 (minor) sins of his are forgiven [7*]

SubhanAllahi wa bihamdihi is the Tasbeeh that Allah Ta’ala chose for His Angels. [8*]

A person who recites ‘Subhan-Allahi wa bihamdihi, `adada khalqihi, wa ridha nafsihi, wa zinata `arshihi, wa midada kalimaatihi [ I Glorify Allah with His praise, as many times as the number of His creatures, in amounting to His  Pleasure, equal to the weight of His Throne and equal to the ink used in recording the words (for His Praise)]; three times every morning outweighs all other Wazaaif/Azkaar [9*]

Reciting ‘SubhaanAllah, Wal-Hamdu-Lillah, Wa la ilaaha illAllah, wallahu Akbar’ is most beloved to Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala [10*]

Reciting 10 times Subhan Allah, 10 times Alhamdulillah and 10 times Allahu Akbar after every Fard Salaah [11*]

Reciting, SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah and Allahu Akbar, 33 times each, after every Fard Salaah, attains lofty ranks in the Aakhirah [12*]

When a persons reads ‘SubhaanAllah, Wal-Hamdu-Lillah, Wa la ilaha ilAllah, wa Allahu Akbar’ then all his (minor) sins are shed off his body, like the leaves of a tree fall down [13*]

Hazrat Juwairiyah bint Al-Harith Radiallahu Anha, the Mother of the Believers, reported: Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam came out from my apartment in the morning, when he had performed Fajr, whilst I was on my musallah. He came back in the forenoon and found me still sitting there. Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “Are you still in the same position as I left you.” I replied in the affirmative. Thereupon the Prophet said, “I recited four words three times after I had left you. If these are to be weighed against all what you have recited since morning, these will be heavier. These are: (Subhan-Allahi wa bihamdihi, `adada khalqihi, wa rida nafsihi, wa zinata `arshihi, wa midada kalimatihi )…Glorify Allah with His praise, as many times as the number of His creatures, in accordance with His Good Pleasure, equal to the weight of His Throne and equal to the ink that may be used in recording the words for His Praise)].” ~ (Muslim)

Hazrat Abdullah bin `Amr Radiallahu Anhu said: Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: ‘There are two characteristics which a Muslim person acquires, that he enters Paradise. And indeed, they are easy, but those who act upon them are few: He glorifies Allah at the end of every prayer ten times (saying SubhaanAllah) and praises Him ten times saying (Alhumdulilah) and extols His greatness ten times (saying Allah Hu Akbar).’”He said: “And I have seen Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam counting them with his hand. He said: ‘So this is one hundred and fifty with the tongue, and one thousand and five hundred on the Scale. When you go to bed, you glorify Him, extol His greatness, and praise Him a hundred times, so this is one hundred with the tongue and one thousand on the Scale. Which of you perform two thousand and five hundred evil deeds in a single day and night?’ They said: ‘How could we not guard over them?’ He said: ‘Shaitan comes to one of you when he is in his Salat and says: “Remember such and such, remember such and such” until he turns (after completing salaah) and perhaps he will then not do it. And he comes to him when he is lying down and makes him sleepy until he falls asleep (without reading it).’” ~ (Tirmidhi)

Hazrat Abu Hurairah Radiallahu Anhu reported: Some of the poor Emigrants came to Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam and said to him, “The wealthy have obtained all high ranks and everlasting bliss.” He asked, “How is that?” They replied: “They offer Salat as we do, and observe Saum (fasting) as we do, but they give in Sadaqah (charity) and we do not, and they emancipate slaves and we cannot.” Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “Shall I not teach you something whereby you will catch up with those who have preceded you and will get ahead of those who follow you, and no one will surpass you unless he does the same as you do?” They said, “Surely, O Messenger of Allah.” He said, “Say: SubhaanAllah, Allahu Akbar, and Alhamdulillah, thirty-three times at the end of every Salat.” They returned to him and said: “Our brothers, the possessors of wealth, having heard what we are doing, have started doing the same.” Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “This is Grace of Allah which He gives to whom He wishes.“ ~ (Al- Bukhari and Muslim)

Hazrat Anas bin Malik Radiallahu Anhu narrated that: Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam passed by a tree with dry leaves, so he struck it with his staff, making the leaves fall. Then he said: (Al-Ḥamdulillāhh)’ ‘glory to Allah, (Subḥān Allāh)’ ‘none has the right to be worshipped by Allah, (Lā Ilāha Illallāh)’ and (Allāhu Akbar)’ cause the sins to fall from the worshipper, just as the leaves of this tree fall.” ~ (Tirmidhi)

The Forbidden Harms of Riba (Interest)

veiledgems-riba-2016 The Forbidden Harms of Riba (Interest)

Riba*(Interest) is totally Haraam. The Verses 275-281 of Surah Al Baqarah highlight the importance of a Believer abstaining from Riba (usury/interest), as well as emphasizes the harms associated with indulging in it.

Riba actually means ‘to grow’. It was a common practice in the times of Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamic era) where a certain sum of money was lent on the premise that after a period of time, more be paid back than was originally lent.
A loan of R100 for example, with a repayment value of R150 is regarded as an unjust transaction. The extra R50 is Riba – it is in lieu of nothing – and it is unjust. This is unlike a ‘fixed’ business transaction for a set amount (eg R100) where both buyer and seller profit from effort expended. The buyer profits by either re-selling at a fixed price or simply from obtaining a desired article and the seller profits from making a sale above his cost price.

In Islam, trade and commerce is Halaal (lawful) but engaging in Riba is oppressive and Haraam (unlawful). Riba is regarded to be amongst the major sins in Shariah. The laws of Riba apply to ALL Believers; male and female. In the time of Rasulullah Sallalahu Alayhi Wa Sallam, the Sahaabiyyaat RA were acutely aware of the hardship and calamities associated with Riba. They thus urged their husbands to fear ALLAH Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala and endeavour to earn a Halaal Sustenance. They were prepared to starve and do without food, rather than risk entering Jahannum for engaging in, and consuming Haraam sustenance.

Hazrat Abu Bakr Radhiallaahu Anhu reports that Rasulullah Sallallaahu Alayhi Wa Sallam said: “A body which has been nourished by unlawful things shall never enter Jannah.” (Mishkaat)

Riba* (Interest) ~ is a loan with the condition that the borrower will return to the lender more than that he borrowed.”

In the following Verses, Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala explains to the Believers the dreadful ending of those engaging in Riba, on the Day of Qiyamah

Those who consume interest cannot stand [on the Day of Resurrection] except as one stands who is being beaten by Satan into insanity. That is because they say, “Trade is [just] like interest.” But Allah has permitted trade and has forbidden interest. So whoever has received an admonition from his Lord and desists may have what is past, and his affair rests with Allah . But whoever returns to [dealing in interest or usury] – those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide eternally therein ~ 2:275

The condition of those taking Riba is likened to a person who has been afflicted by Shaytaan or Jinn.
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala says that the people who indulge in this detestable act of Riba will rise on the day of Qiyamah totally bewildered, confused, disgraced and disheveled in appearance.

Ulema explain that the person who consumes Riba becomes so intoxicated in his greed for money, that he is not concerned about the monies being Haraam. The unkind creditor develops a ‘senseless’ nature in the Dunya and he will we be raised in a similar ‘senseless’ fashion in the Aahkirah.

The Disbelievers questioned the ruling regarding Riba and likened it to the normal profit associated with buying and selling (trade)
ALLAH Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala simply reiterated that HE has permitted trade but FORBIDDEN interest.

The lesson here (and with every aspect of Deen), is that it is our duty to obey the Hukm of ALLAH Ta’ala irrespective of whether the human mind fails to comprehend the reasoning behind it. Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala is Al-Aleem (All Knowing) and Al-Khabeer (All-Aware). He is The Sovereign Master and HIS Wisdom is Absolute. He alone knows the harm and the benefit of everything that He has deemed Haraam and Halaal.
Thus, irrespective of our failure to understand the rationale, if a thing has been deemed Haraam, some evil or loss must be understood to be associated with it.

Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala mentions in Verse 2:276 :

“Yamhaqullaahur Riba Wa Yurbis Sadaqaat” / Allah destroys interest and gives increase for charities ~ Surah Al Baqarah 2:276

Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala clearly outlines that partaking of Riba is totally despised by Him and hence it is not the quality of a Believer to indulge in it. Interest (Riba) is the outcome of selfishness and miserliness whilst charity (Sadaqah) is the outcome of generosity, compassion and large-heartedness.

Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala destroys interest and increases Sadaqah. The simple explanation of this is that “BARAKAH” is removed from interest associated dealings whilst it is put into wealth associated with charity. Thus, whilst the bank accounts and business empires of those associated with interest dealings seem to be increasing outwardly – in reality, the wealth is actually being destroyed.

From severe health problems and accidents to insolvency, the sinner engaging in Riba never truly enjoys his wealth but is in fact steeped in calamities.

On the other hand, the one who gives Sadaqah finds that despite seeing his bank balance fall, he is able to fulfill multiple expenses, responsibilities and requirements with the less money that he has. This is the promise of ALLAH: “Yamhaqullaahur Riba Wa Yurbis Sadaqaat”

In verse 2:279, Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala issues a stern warning:

And if you do not, then be informed of a war [against you] from Allah and His Messenger. But if you repent, you may have your principal – [thus] you do no wrong, nor are you wronged ~ 2:279

– There are two particular types of people upon whom Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala openly declares war:

(1) Those who deal in Riba (2:279), and ;

(2) Any person who shows hostility to a Wali (friend of ALLAH Ta’ala) ~ Bukhari.

Failure to heed the warnings could throw a person far away from the Mercy of Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala.

Riba (Usury/Interest) is undoubtedly Haraam and one of the major sins in Islam.
If we have engaged in this heinous crime then we should continue to seek forgiveness from ALLAH Ta’ala and abstain completely from such transactions in future. Just as eating pork and consuming alcohol is Haraam, so too is engaging in Riba. Deep consideration should be given to the seriousness of consuming Riba.

Some Ahaadith Concerning Consuming Riba (Interest)

Hazrat Ibn Mas’ud Radiallahu Anhu narrated that Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam cursed the one who consumed Riba, the one who charged it, those who witnessed it, and the one who recorded it. ” (Tirmidhi )

Hazrat Samurah bin Jundub Radiallahu Anhu narrated that Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: ” I dreamt that two men came and took me to a Holy land whence we proceeded on till we reached a river of blood, where a man was standing, and on its bank was standing another man with stones in his hands. The man in the middle of the river tried to come out, but the other threw a stone in his mouth and forced him to go back to his original place. So, whenever he tried to come out, the other man would throw a stone in his mouth and force him to go back to his former place. I asked, ‘Who is this?’ I was told, ‘The person in the river was a Riba-eater.” (Bukhari)

…

Hazrat Abu Hurairah  Radiallahu Anhu narrated that Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: “Avoid the seven great destructive sins.” They people asked, “O Allah’s Apostle! What are they?” He said, “To join partners in worship with Allah; to practice sorcery; to kill the life which Allah has forbidden except for a just reason (according to Islamic law); to eat up usury (Riba), to eat up the property of an orphan; to give one’s back to the enemy and fleeing from the battle-field at the time of fighting and to accuse chaste, simple (innocent) Believing women”. (Bukhari)

Hazrat Abu Hurairah Radiallahu Anhu said that Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: I came across some people in the night in which I was taken to the heavens (Lailatul Mi’raaj). Their stomachs were like houses wherein there were serpents, which could be seen from the front of their stomachs. I asked, “Who are these people”?  Jibra’eel Alayhis Salaam replied that they were the people who indulged in dealings of usury and interest.” (Ahmed, Ibn Majah)

Hazrat Abdullah bin Hanzalah  Radiallahu Anhu reported that Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: A dirham of usury that a man devours and he knows (it is Riba) is worse than 36 fornications. (Ahmed)

Sadaqah ~ The Virtues of Spending in the Path of Allah

The Virtues of Spending in the Path of Allah

Believers are promised great rewards for expending their wealth, wholeheartedly in the path of Allah Ta’ala. Sadaqah is a virtuous deed in Islam, and a reminder to us that the wealth we possess, is simply a loan from Allah, for which we will be held accountable in the Aakhirah.

Allah Ta’ala exhorts us to spend on the poor and needy, from the wealth that has been allotted to us. All forms of wealth essentially come from Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala, and our spending on those in need, is highly appreciated by Allah Ta’ala. In His Infinite Mercy, Allah Ta’ala equates our giving of charity as a loan to Him! (even though HE does not need it). And, this investment with Allah Ta’ala will provide everlasting sustenance in Dunya and Aakhirah.

An example of this guaranteed promise, is mentioned in Verse 261 of Surah Baqarah :

“The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed [of grain] which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing.”

For the one who spends in Allah’s path, HE increases his reward from one blessing – to seven hundred – to seven thousand – and multiplies it even more!

Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala is ‘Zul Fadhlil Azeem‘ – the Possessor of Great Bounty – and HE rewards immensely! A person who is aware of the large profits that will be reaped from sowing just one seed into the ground, will most definitely exert himself and work harder to derive the rest of the gains.

Similarly, when a Believer understands that his giving of charity will reap tremendous reward, then he will likewise strive hard to reap the magnanimous rewards for charity promised by Allah Ta’ala. Thus, one who spends just one Rand in the path of Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala, is investing in something that will give him multiple profits in the Aakhirah.

……………………………………………………………………………..

The Etiquettes, Qualities and Manner in which one should Spend in the Path of Allah

It is essential to reflect on some significant Adaab (etiquettes) of spending in the path of Allah as outlined in the following Ayaah. In doing so, sacrificing will become a pleasure rather than a burden.

……………..

1 ~ Seeking the Pleasure of Allah and not to show off to people.

A main ingredient before giving Sadaqah should be correctness of one’s intention. Sadaqah must be done sincerely for the pleasure of Allah and not out of Riya (show) – to gain praise or recognition from others.

Allah Ta’ala says:

Those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah and then do not follow up what they have spent with reminders [of it] or [other] injury will have their reward with their Lord, and there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve ~ Surah Baqarah 2:262

……………..

2 ~ It should not be followed by reproach and injury

Allah Ta’ala mentions :

O you who have believed, do not invalidate your charities with reminders or injury as does one who spends his wealth [only] to be seen by the people and does not believe in Allah and the Last Day. His example is like that of a [large] smooth stone upon which is dust and is hit by a downpour that leaves it bare. They are unable [to keep] anything of what they have earned. And Allah does not guide the disbelieving people ~ Surah Baqarah 2:264

And the example of those who spend their wealth seeking the pleasure of Allah and assuring [reward for] themselves is like a garden on high ground which is hit by a downpour – so it yields its fruits in double. And [even] if it is not hit by a downpour, then a drizzle [is sufficient]. And Allah , of what you do, is Seeing ~ Surah Baqarah2:265

Explanation :

Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala has encouraged spending in His Path, but has warned against boasting of one’s favour upon the poor person and teasing or taunting beneficiaries.

Imaam Ghazaali (Rahmatullahi Alayh) when mentioning the etiquettes of giving Sadaqah stated that one should not destroy one’s charity by displaying ‘Mann’. This refers to continually reminding a person of one’s favours upon him.

Immediate harm (Azaa) is also caused by taunting the beneficiary, telling him, “I gave you this and that”.

Sometimes donors even demand free labour in lieu of their Sadaqah! A person should not expect anything in return for what he has given, nor show a sense of superiority over a poor person. Instead of hoping for some worldly benefit from our Sadaqah, we should be grateful to those who accept our Sadaqah. Giving Sadaqa should never be followed by rebuking the poor for begging.

Imaam Ghazaali (Rahmatullahi Alayh) says we should ponder and reflect: In reality it is the poor person who has done a favour to the rich – for, by accepting the Sadaqah, he has absolved the rich person from his obligation towards Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala. The poor ultimately become a means of purification of the rich man’s wealth and saves him from the fire of Jahannum.

Rasulullah Salallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam mentioned in a Hadith :

“Save yourself from Hell-fire even by giving half a date in charity.” ~ Bukhari

Spending ones wealth and then taunting the beneficiary is likened to ‘showing off’. Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala gives an example of one who intends growing crops from a little bit of soil spread across a smooth rock. Allah Ta’ala then sends down very heavy rain which washes away the soil on the rock, leaving it completely bare. The bare rock cannot absorb water, nor can it nourish a seed to grow. Similarly, boasting prevents the seed of charity from being nurtured and cultivated. It causes the charity to be rejected and washed away. Such people are unable to acquire the reward of what they have earned or worked for and their actions render their charity null and void.

On the other hand, those who spend their wealth with pure intention – exclusively for the pleasure of Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala – their deeds are like rain on an elevated orchard with excellent soil. When a heavy rain or even a drizzle falls onto it, the crops grow and bring forth fruits two fold! Heavy rain is in reference to the spending of abundant wealth and a drizzle is in reference to the spending of little wealth. Spending which is done to seek the pleasure of Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala cannot fail to bring about a good effect. This in turn strengthens their hearts (Imaan).

Kind speech and forgiveness are better than charity followed by injury. And Allah is Free of need and Forbearing ~ Surah Baqarah 2:263

Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala mentions : Responding softly and forgiving is better than a charity which is followed by harassment. Sometimes one may find that a beggar is not satisfied with what he is given and he may utter harsh words to the giver. It is better here to overlook the harsh words of the beggar and to forgive him.

The word Maghfirah comes from the word ‘Mighfar’, which means a helmet (covering the head). Likewise, the donor ‘covers the need’ of the beggar and does not expose his wants, but infact, he secretly assists him and shields him from any embarrassment.

……………..

3 ~ It must be lawful and good

O you who have believed, spend from the good things which you have earned and from that which We have produced for you from the earth. And do not aim toward the defective therefrom, spending [from that] while you would not take it [yourself] except with closed eyes. And know that Allah is Free of need, and All Praiseworthy ~ Surah Baqarah 2: 267

Giving Sadaqah of that which is not Halaal or of that which is defective (tainted goods or money) and retaining that which is superior is not a Quality of a Believer – it is not what Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala expects from the one who wishes to discharge wealth in charity. Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala is Pure and only accepts that which is pure. Charity of thousands of Rands earned in a Haraam manner, is considered null and void. When charity is given, it should not be of inferior quality goods which we ourselves reject.

……………..

4 ~ It should be given to those poor who are besieged in the way of Allah.

[Charity is] for the poor who have been restricted for the cause of Allah , unable to move about in the land. An ignorant [person] would think them self-sufficient because of their restraint, but you will know them by their [characteristic] sign. They do not ask people persistently [or at all]. And whatever you spend of good – indeed, Allah is Knowing of it.
 Surah Baqarah 2:273

……………..

5 ~ The rewards of spending publicly and secretly extend to both worlds

Those who spend their wealth [in the path of Allah] by night and by day, secretly and publicly – they will have their reward with their Lord. And no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve ~ Surah Baqarah 2:274

Sadaqah can be given with a noble and correct intention both publicly (in the form of encouragement to others) or privately (in secrecy). Giving charity openly is an excellent form of Ibaadah. However, if it is given secretly to the poor – then this is the best form of Sadaqah, as it eliminates the chance of show and ostentation and saves the poor from humiliation.

……………………………………………………………………………..

Shaytaan instills in us the fear of poverty and commands us to be miserly in the spending of our wealth. The wealth that a person hoards however, may not remain with one in the ‘tomorrow of the Dunya’ – thus the empty threats of Shaytaan are futile. Spending in charity in the path of Allah, earns one the guaranteed promise of the Maghfirat of Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala in the ‘tomorrow of the Aakhirah’ – this is perpetual and immeasurable!

The doors of Dunya open up for kind and generous people; and the more you give in charity,  the more barakah Allah Subahaanahu Wa Ta’ala will grant you …

The Messenger believeth in what hath been revealed to him from his Lord, as do the men of faith. Each one (of them) believeth in Allah, His angels, His books, and His messengers. “We make no distinction (they say) between one and another of His Messengers.” And they say: “We hear, and we obey: (We seek) Thy forgiveness, our Lord, and to Thee is the end of all journeys.”~ 2:285

On no soul doth Allah Place a burden greater than it can bear. It gets every good that it earns, and it suffers every ill that it earns. (Pray:) “Our Lord! Condemn us not if we forget or fall into error; our Lord! Lay not on us a burden Like that which Thou didst lay on those before us; Our Lord! Lay not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Blot out our sins, and grant us forgiveness. Have mercy on us. Thou art our Protector; Help us against those who disbelieve ~ 2:286

Hazrat Ibn Mas’ud Radiyallahu Anhu narrated that Rasullulah Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam said : “Whoever recited the last two verses of Surah Baqarah at night, they will be sufficient for him.” ~ Bukhari

….

According to various Ahaadeeth of Rasullulah Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam, the concluding verses (285:286) of Surah Baqarah, ‘Aamanar Rasoolu … till the end, hold immense value and contain great merits. A special Angel descended upon its revelation, emphasising the importance of these verses!

“When Hazrat Jibraeel (AS) was with Rasullulah Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam, he heard a sound from above like a door opening. Hazrat Jibraeel (AS) looked up towards the sky and said: ‘This is a gate in Heaven that has been opened, and it was never opened before.” He said: “An Angel came down from it and came to Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam and said: ‘Receive the glad tidings of two lights that have been given to you, that were never given to any Messenger before you: The Opening of the Book (Al-Fatihah) and the last verses of Surat Al-Baqarah. You will never recite a single letter of them but you will be granted it.’” ~ (Sahih)

Of the blessings narrated :

• Rasullulah Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam said that Allah Almighty has sent forth these two verses out of the treasures of Paradise and had written them two thousand years earlier than the creation of all things and beings.

• One who recites these two verses after the Esha Salaah, and is unabale to wake up for Tahujjud Salaah,  will be regarded as those who have stood up for Tahajjud Salaah.

• Rasullulah Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam said that Allah Subahaanahu Wa Ta’ala has concluded Surah al-Baqarah with these two verses, which have been given to me out of His Grace from the special treasure that lies under His ‘Arsh’ (Divine Throne) ~ (Ahmed)

• Sayyidna Umar Radiyallahu Anhu and Sayyidna Ali Radiyallahu Anhu said that they thought that anybody who has any sense in him, would never go to sleep without having recited these two verses ` ~(Bukhari)

• Rasullulah Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam said : Whoever recited the last two verses of Surah Baqarah for three nights, no devil will remain in the house (ie: he will be protected from Shaytaan) ~ (Tirmidhi)

• Hazrat Abu Mas’ud Radiyallahu Anhu said that Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said: “Whoever recites the last two Verses of Surah Al-Baqarah at night, that will be sufficient for him.” We should make it a practice to memorize these verses and recite them either in our Isha prayers or before we go to sleep ~ (Sunan Ibn Majah)

• Hazrat Jubair ibn Nufair Radiyallahu Anhu narrated that Rasullulah Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam said : “Allah Ta’ala concluded Surah Al Baqarah with two verses which I have been given, from His treasure, which is under the Throne; so learn them and teach them to your women-folk for they are a blessing, a means of gaining closeness to Allah Ta’ala and is a supplication.”

‘”Our Lord ! take us not to task if we forget or fall into error”

Rabbana walaa tahmil  ‘alaynaa isran kamaa hamaltahu alallazeena min qablina.
Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us.

. . .

Rabbana wala tuhammilna ma laa taaqata lana bihi. W’afu ‘anna
waghfirlanaa warhamnaa  anta mawlaana fansurna alal qawmil kaafireen
Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people.
