bismillahhAllah Ta’ala mentions in the Noble Quraan:

وَقَالَ رَبُّكُمُ ادْعُونِي أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ

“And your Rabb said: ‘Invoke Me, [i.e supplicate to me] I will respond to your invocation.

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ عَنْ عِبَادَتِي سَيَدْخُلُونَ جَهَنَّمَ دَاخِرِينَ

Verily those who are too arrogant to invoke Me, will surely enter into Hell in humiliation.”

~ [Surah Ghaafir 40:60]

Allah  سبحانه و تعالى has exhorted us to earnestly supplicate to Him. Allah says اُدْعُونِي [Call Upon me] and I will respond! Hence, it is imperative that we should always turn to Allah, when engaging in Duas. Allah loves those who supplicate to Him. Allah سبحانه و تعالى grants beyond expectations. Those who are arrogant and proud of supplicating to Him, and do not ask Allah for their needs, He will be displeased with them. Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) has mentioned in a Hadith : “Ask Allah for everything, even the lace of your shoes. If Allah does not provide, it will never be available.”

Hazrat Abu Umamah Radiyallahu Anhu narrated: It was said: ‘O Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), which supplication is most likely to be accepted?’ He said: ‘ The Dua made in the latter part of the night, and after the obligatory (Fard) prayers.’”~ Tirmidhi

In Dunya, when we ask a person several times for our needs, the person becomes frustrated and angry with us … but Allah Ta’ala never becomes angry with us when we ask of Him, no matter how many times we ask of Him!Therefore, one should continue knocking and begging at the door of Allah.

Sometimes, one may not see an immediate result of what he is supplicating, but after several times of earnest begging from Allah, HE opens His doors widely for him. Allah Ta’ala knows exactly when to open that door! The problem is, that we become hasty and very easily abandon Dua.

Be mindful of Allah in prosperity, and He will remember you in adversity.” ~  Tirmidhi

Allah tests our reliance on Him, and puts us through various ‘examinations’. That person who in times of prosperity, enjoys plentiful (good health, wealth, comfort), yet still engages in Dua and begs from Allah only, then Allah will most certainly help him, in his times of difficulty.

A Dua of a believer is never wasted. A person’s supplications are accepted as long as he does not demand things that are considered haram or sinful. If our dua is not accepted (in Dunya), then Allah Ta’ala, either turns away some evil that was going to inflict one; or Allah Ta’ala reserves its rewards for the hereafter. On the day of judgement when one sees the huge rewards one receives for his unanswered Dua’s, one will wish none of his Dua’s got accepted in Dunya! SubhanAllah!  So even if our Dua is not answered in this life we should hope for its rewards in the next.

A persons Dua is answered by Allah. There are however conditions for the acceptance of these Duas.

Some Pre-conditions for the Acceptance of Duas:

1. One may not ask for anything deemed sinful or Haraam.

2. Not being hasty in the acceptance of Duas … and then giving up making Dua.

3. Supplicate with an attentive and sincere heart.

4. Ensure that one’s Earnings are Halaal and one consumes only Halaal.
